New Riese & Müller for 2027: Everything That's Changed

New Riese & Müller for 2027: Everything That's Changed

We've had a good read through Riese & Müller's plans for 2027, and there is plenty worth telling you about. As one of the South West's Riese & Müller dealers, we get the new model details early, and 2027 brings changes across the bikes we ride and sell every day.

For 2027, Riese & Müller has updated almost every range we stock. The Charger5 and Nevo5 get new colours and a more accessible entry model. The Load5 is now available with Pinion MGU. There is a new Pinion range extender that adds genuine touring distance to compete with the Bosch Powermore. And there are two brand new bikes: the Multicharger4, a long-range touring and adventure midtail, and the Veya, Riese & Müller's first properly light e-bike.

New for 2027

The updated Charger5, Nevo5, Delite5, Homage5 and Superdelite5 can be ordered now, with the first deliveries from August 2026. The new colours follow in September and the Pinion range extender from November. The new Multicharger4 and Veya arrive in early 2027. The Load5 is now available with the Pinion MGU (motor gearbox unit). If you want first pick, start with the Bike Finder or get in touch.

The Charger5 and Nevo5: our core sellers, sharpened

The Charger5 and Nevo5 are two bikes many of our customers come to us for, the changes are small(ish) but worth a look.

The Charger5 gets two new colours, maroon and lavender, both of which look pretty strong, and we've said in the past the R&M colours can be a bit dull, so this is a welcome shift. More useful day-to-day, there is a new touring pro version with electronic Shimano Di2 shifting and an automatic mode, which takes a lot of the thinking out of gear changes on a long ride. There is also a new silent CORE model that brings the entry price down. I will always point most riders at the CX-powered Charger5 first, because it gives you the full battery and motor options and the most headroom, but the CORE is a sensible way in if the budget needs it.

The Nevo5, their low-step all-rounder, gains two new colours of its own in moss and golden yellow, plus a new coaster-brake CORE model for riders who want something simple and comfortable. If you have been weighing up the Nevo5 against the step-through Charger5 Mixte, our Nevo5 vs Charger5 Mixte comparison still holds, and these updates do not change the basic decision

The new Pinion range extender

This is the update I am most pleased about for touring riders. Riese & Müller now offers a Pinion range extender: a 240 Wh add-on battery that weighs only about 1.6 kg and mounts neatly at the bottle-cage point, with its own lock. It works with the Pinion-equipped Nevo5, Charger5 and Charger5 Mixte, Delite5 and Homage5.

For a rider doing back-to-back long days, that extra battery is the difference between planning your route around charging stops and simply riding. One thing to know: it only fits the 2027 Pinion bikes out of the box. If you have a 2026 Pinion model, it needs a workshop conversion first, which is something we can sort out for you. If the Pinion gearbox is new to you, our guide to the Pinion MGU explains why so many of our touring customers love it.

On the road

"Range anxiety is the thing that holds touring riders back more than anything else. A 240 Wh extender that clips on and off in seconds, on a Pinion bike that is already low-maintenance, is a properly useful addition."

A quick word on Bosch Performance Upgrade 2.0

Most of the 2027 CX-powered bikes are ready for Bosch Performance Upgrade 2.0, the software unlock that takes the CX motor up to 120 Nm of torque. We have written about this in full already, so I won't repeat it here. If you want the detail, read our Bosch Performance Upgrade 2.0 explainer. If you go for a vario (twist-shift) model on one of the CX bikes, the 2027 versions use enviolo's new Utility hub, a stepless gearbox built to take the full 120 Nm the CX now produces.

The Multicharger4: a long-range midtail worth a look

The Multicharger4 is genuinely new, and it is more interesting for our kind of riding than the midtail label suggests. Riese & Müller built it on the Charger5 design, so it handles like a trekking bike rather than a heavy cargo machine, and there is a true adventure and touring build in the range: long range, big battery, and the carrying capacity for proper self-supported trips.

The reason it earns a place here is range and load for touring. It takes a Bosch PowerTube 800, and you can add a second 800 Wh pack for 1,600 Wh in total. That is Superdelite-level range on a bike that will also carry everything you need for a multi-day trip, panniers, luggage and a tent, with a 200 kg total capacity. For the rider who wants to go far and self-supported, this is a seriously capable adventure machine. It will turn its hand to the family and cargo jobs too, but the touring and adventure spec is the one I would point our customers at.

One important current limitation for our kind of rider: if you want Rohloff gearing on the Multicharger4, it is only offered on the faster HS version (HS/Speed Pedelecs are not Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles under UK law. They require registration, insurance, and a motorcycle helmet.), not the standard 25 km/h model. For most of our touring customers that rules Rohloff out on this particular bike. The Enviolo and Pinion options are still there, and they are good, but it is worth knowing before you set your heart on it. UK customer bikes arrive in March 2027.

One to watch

"We sold a lot of Superchargers to touring riders over the years, the big-battery bike that just kept going. The Multicharger4 with 1,600 Wh scratches the same itch, with the carrying capacity for proper self-supported adventures. I am looking forward to getting one in to ride."

The Load5 gets Pinion MGU

Another 2027 addition worth mentioning if you carry loads. The Load5, the highly capable cargo bike, now comes in Pinion form. The new Load5 60 and 75 Pinion models run the Pinion MGU gearbox with an 800 Wh battery, and you can add a second for 1,600 Wh in total. It is the same sealed, low-maintenance gearbox our touring riders already like on the Charger and Delite, now on a bike built to haul. Load5 Pinion models reach UK customers in December 2026.

And the Veya, Riese & Müller's first light e-bike

The headline launch for 2027 is the Veya, Riese & Müller's first range built around low weight, starting under 20 kg. It comes in a classic diamond frame and an open step-through, with a choice of Bosch motors and a smaller or larger battery so you can balance range against weight. The new dusty purple colour is lovely.

The Veya is aimed at riders who want something light and more affordable, and that is not really what we are about here so we're not covering the Veya in great detail. ebikeist specialises in premium trekking, touring and adventure bikes, and the Veya is a different sort of bike for a different sort of ride. It is good to see Riese & Müller widening its range, and we will keep an eye on it, but the Charger, Nevo, Delite, Homage and Superdelite remain the heart of what we do. The Veya launches in the UK in February 2027.

It is a midtail built on the Charger5 design, with up to 1,600 Wh of battery, which makes it appealing for long-distance touring as well as family use. The one limitation for touring riders is that Rohloff gearing is only offered on the faster HS version, not the standard 25 km/h model.

What is the Veya?
It is Riese & Müller's first light e-bike range, starting under 20 kg, aimed at riders who want something lighter and more affordable. It is not the touring and adventure focus we specialise in, but it widens what Riese & Müller offers.
