Learn About the Delite5
Delite5 Key Features
Riese & Müller call the Delite5 their ultimate e-bike. Full suspension, five drivetrains, and a frame rated to carry 160 kg all in.
Choose Your Display
The display comes with the drivetrain rather than being a separate choice.
- Bosch variants (touring, vario, rohloff) get the Bosch Kiox 500 with a Purion 200 control on the bar.
- Pinion variants (pinion, pinion HS) get the FIT Comfort Display, which is part of the Pinion system.
Both give you speed, range, assistance level and ride data at a glance, and both connect to the phone app for navigation and ride logging. If you have a strong preference for one, tell us before you order, because it points you at a different drivetrain.
Choose Your Motor and Gearing
Five drivetrains, and the choice matters more than anything else on the bike.
- Touring. Shimano XT 11-speed derailleur with a Bosch Performance Line CX motor, delivering up to 120Nm of torque. The familiar setup, the lightest of the five, and the least expensive way into a Delite5.
- Vario. Enviolo continuously variable hub with a Gates CDX belt and the same Bosch motor. No gears to count, nothing to shift through, and a belt instead of a chain.
- Pinion. Pinion MGU E1.12 gearbox, twelve evenly spaced gears, with the gearbox and motor combined in one sealed unit at the bottom bracket. Very little to maintain and a low centre of gravity.
- Pinion HS. The same Pinion gearbox with the 45 km/h motor. See the note below before you choose this one.
- Rohloff. Rohloff E-14 Speedhub, fourteen speeds, electronic shifting, Gates CDX belt, Bosch CX motor. The most durable drivetrain made and the one for heavy loads and steep gradients.
About the Pinion HS. It assists to 45 km/h (28 mph) rather than 25 km/h (15.5 mph). In the UK that makes it a speed pedelec rather than an e-bike, which means registration, insurance and a licence, and it cannot be used on cycle paths. Call us before ordering one and we will talk you through what owning one involves.
Sustainable Design
The Delite5 frame is made in Portugal using ASI-certified recycled aluminium, and the motor and shock carry their own protection so winter grime does not shorten their life. Riese & Müller build these to be repaired and ridden for years rather than replaced, which is the part of sustainability that counts on a bike this expensive.
Connected
Integrated RX Chip, enabling comprehensive digital features through the RX Connect app. This connectivity provides GPS tracking, a digital motion alarm, and automatic ride recording with detailed statistics, enhancing security and offering valuable insights into your journeys.

Riese & Müller Delite5 FAQs
Riders who want one bike that does everything well. The Delite5 is full suspension, so it is as happy on a broken back lane or a bridleway as it is on tarmac, and it is rated to carry 160 kg all in, which covers you, luggage and a child seat. It is the bike for long days, loaded touring, and rough surfaces you did not plan for.
The Delite5 carries a single 800 Wh battery: a Bosch PowerTube on the touring, vario and rohloff, or a FIT TubePack on the Pinion variants. Real range depends on terrain, weather, load and how much assistance you use, so treat any single number with suspicion.
If you want more, both systems take a range extender: the Bosch PowerMore 250 on the Bosch variants, and the FIT BuddyPack 240 on the Pinion variants from November 2026.
If you want the longest range Riese & Müller make, that is the Superdelite5, which carries 1,200 Wh as standard. The Delite5 is not a dual-battery bike.
Touring (Shimano XT 11-speed derailleur), Vario (Enviolo continuously variable hub with a Gates belt), Pinion (Pinion MGU 12-speed gearbox), Pinion HS (the same gearbox with the 45 km/h motor), and Rohloff (Rohloff E-14 14-speed electronic hub with a Gates belt).
Touring is the lightest and least expensive. Vario is the easiest to live with in traffic. Pinion and Rohloff are the low-maintenance, high-durability choices for people doing serious mileage. The HS is a different legal class of bike, so read the note on the drivetrain section above before choosing it.
The Delite5 uses Riese & Müller's Control Technology full suspension: a Fox AWL 34 fork with 120 mm of travel at the front, and a Fox Float Rhythm shock with 110 mm at the rear. A dropper seatpost (X-Fusion Manic) is fitted as standard on every model, so you can drop the saddle at a junction without getting off the bike.
The gross vehicle weight rating is 160 kg, which is the bike, you, and everything on it. Maximum rider weight is 120 kg. The rear luggage rack is rated to 27 kg, panniers to 2 x 7.5 kg, and a handlebar bag or front carrier to 5 kg.
The bike itself is 31.6 to 32.9 kg depending on drivetrain, measured in size Medium. A larger frame will be a little heavier.
A child seat on the rear carrier is approved. So is a two-wheel trailer with a single attachment point.
Single-wheel trailers and tagalong trailer bikes are not approved on the Delite5. That applies to every variant and every frame size, including the HS.
Range and weight, mostly. The Superdelite5 carries 1,200 Wh as standard against the Delite5's 800 Wh, and it is roughly 2 kg heavier for it. Suspension, frame sizes and load ratings are the same on both.
The Delite5 also gives you more choice: five drivetrains including a touring and a Pinion, where the Superdelite5 has three and no Pinion at all.
If you are doing multi-day tours between charges, the Superdelite5 earns its money. If you charge most nights, the Delite5 is the better bike for the money and the easier one to lift.
The frame. The Delite5 is a diamond frame, the Homage5 is a low step-through, and they share the same suspension platform underneath.
For 2027 they are no longer the same bike at the same price. The Delite5 keeps a touring variant and the Homage5 does not, so the Homage5 range starts higher. Pick the frame that suits how you get on and off a bike, then choose the drivetrain.
Medium, Large and Extra Large. Riese & Müller dropped the centimetre labels for 2027: a 47 cm is now Medium, a 51 cm is Large and a 56 cm is Extra Large. The frames have not changed, only the names.
Our Riese & Müller frame size guide has the full mapping, the measurements that decide fit, and what to do if you fall between two sizes: https://ebikeist.com/pages/riese-muller-frame-size-guide
Yes, an X-Fusion Manic, fitted as standard on every Delite5. A longer 125 mm version is available as an option.
