Porsche shuts down Fazua: what it means for Riese & Müller UBN owners
Porsche has confirmed it is winding down Porsche eBike Performance GmbH, the business that owns Fazua. The Fazua Ride 60 drive system powers Riese & Müller's UBN Five, Six and Seven, so if you ride a UBN, or you've been considering one, this matters.
The short version: nothing changes for you today. Service and spare parts continue. The bikes are still being sold, supported, and ridden.
What UBN owners need to know
Your bike is fully functional. Software and connectivity features still work. Service and spare parts continue through ebikeist and other R&M dealers. You don't need to take any action.
What's happened
Porsche announced this week that Porsche eBike Performance GmbH, the parent company of Fazua, is being wound down. Cycling Electric have more on the wider context.
What Riese & Müller say
R&M have written to dealers confirming three things:
- UBN Five, Six and Seven owners do not need to take any action.
- The bikes remain fully functional, including all existing software and connectivity features.
- R&M and their specialist dealer partners, ebikeist included, will continue to guarantee service and the supply of spare parts.
What Fazua say
Fazua have published their own statement to dealers. The key points, paraphrased:
- No interruption to service, parts, or rider experience.
- Continued support for dealers and riders even as HQ operations wind down at Ottobrunn.
- Long-term parts availability is committed.
- Some planned product updates are still rolling out.
